NGC 7635 Bubble Nebula
This is a repeat of an earlier capture – but this time a little closer. Its name is NGC 7635 but for some reason it is known as the Bubble Nebula. 😊 A star that is 45 times more massive than our sun is responsible ‘blowing’ a bubble of stellar mass out at a speed of 4 million miles per hour.
The Bubble Nebula is 7,100 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia and was discovered in 1787 by William Herschel. With an apparent magnitude of 10, it can be observed in medium and larger telescopes. The central bubble is seven light-years wide. The star is about 4 million years old, and in 10 million to 20 million years it will likely explode as a supernova.
Captures used to produce this were taken over 2 nights last week and represent 36 x 300 second exposures.
