Leo Triplet
Have you ever wanted to look into a time machine? Well, astronomy can do that for you. When you look at this picture, you are looking back 35 million years…
The Leo Triplet is a small group of galaxies about 35 million light-years away in the constellation Leo. This galaxy group consists of the spiral galaxies M65, M66, and NGC 3628. But there is more. By the way, the long thin galaxy is often referred to as the Hamburger Galaxy. The number of deep space objects (DSO) that are out there is mind boggling at times.
This is a compilation of 30 x 240 second exposures (2 hr) taken March 26.
Thanks for looking back 35 million years with me!
